1 in 7 people in North Texas struggle with food insecurity. There are 5 million people in Texas that are facing hunger. These oppurtunities will help provide a solution to this grave problem. Also, there are several organizations fighting hunger worldwide.
JFS Food Pantry
Jewish Family Services provides mental health and social services in addition to the food pantry that helps serve the Dallas community. Kids of all ages can come with a parent to help restock the shelves in the food pantry. They also welcome food donations.

Minnie's Food Pantry
Minnie's Food Pantry helps families with food insecurity in Plano. You can host a food drive or birthday bag drive (they have lists on their website of items needed and of upcoming events). There are clear step by step instructions on their website of what to include. The birthday bags contain: cake mix, icing, candles, paper plates, birthday decorations and a card. You can also do a snack bag drive ( see their website for details).

North Texas Food Bank
The North Texas Food Bank helps combat food insecurity in North Texas. They package and distribute food to more than 400 food pantries and local organizations in North Texas. You can help by donating money which directly goes to hunger relief or you can volunteer by packing and boxing food. Volunteers must be over 12 years old. The shifts are Tuesday-Saturday at 9:00 am and 1:00 pm. You can sign up to volunteer on their website.

Feed My Starving Children
Feed My Starving Children is a nonprofit organization that provides nutritious meals to children in need around the world. Volunteers help pack the meals consisting of rice, soy, vitamins, and dried vegetables. It is a fun way to volunteer. You can sign up on their website. They have sessions Monday through Saturday.

Children's Hunger Fund
Children's Hunger Fund provides food packs to children around the world. The boxed "food paks" contain pasta, tomato sauce, canned vegetables, canned beans, snacks, granola bars, and peanut butter. Kids under 17 are welcome to volunteer to pack at the center (must be accompanied by an adult) or you can pack them at home. You can sign up on their website.
